A New Horizon is a Main Quest in Ghost of Tsushima (GoT). Main Quests in Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) are categorized as "Jin's Journey", these are highlighted in Gold and focuses on the main campaign of the game. Completing main quests reward Jin with various items such as reputation points, tools, resources, charms, and story progression. Please see Quests for other walkthroughs on other tasks.
With Lord Shimura freed, we can take the fight to the Mongols and reclaim Castle Shimura, the strategic heart of Tsushima Island that has recently fallen to Khotun Khan.
My uncle and I will ride ahead to scout the battlefield. Together, we will plot our moves to reclaim Castle Shimura – and our home.

A New Horizon Walkthrough
A New Beginning
- You'll immediately start act 2 after finishing Shadow of the Samurai.
- Yuna tells Jin that Shimura is looking for him. Walk with Yuna to the keep.
- When you reach the entrance of the keep, Yuna waits outside. Head inside and a cutscene will trigger.
- After the cutscene, head outside, and before heading to the stables, make sure to speak to your allies.
- You'll find Sensei Ishikawa, Taka, Kenji, and Masoko outside.
- After speaking to Jin's allies, head to the horse stables and speak to Yuna to trigger another cutscene.
- If you wanna examine the area, go on ahead before riding your horse.
- Once you're on your mount, wait for the townspeople to open the gates and you'll travel along with Lord Shimura.
- There will be a lot of dialogue while you ride with Shimura, but then, you'll reach a burning village.
Clear the Mongol Patrol
- Ride past the burning village and you'll see from the rice fields that there is a Mongol patrol.
- Run them down with Lord Shimura and clear out all the soldiers.
- The soldiers here are swordsmen, use the Stone Stance to eliminate them easily.
- Once you've killed all of the enemies, mount your horse and continue traveling with Shimura until you reach Fort Ito.
- When you reach the entrance of Fort Ito, you'll encounter more Mongol guards. Defeat them and two more waves of Mongol forces will come through the gates. Try to take out the dog first to stop it from chasing you.
- Head inside the fort and disable the Mongol alarm. The majority of the enemies here will be swordsmen, so you'll be using the Stone Stance here more often.
- You'll find the alarm at the far right corner of the location.
- Once you've taken out the alarm and killed the remaining Mongols, walk up to Shimura and he'll mention that there are more reinforcements.
- Head to the entrance of the fort and you'll see a caravan rushing towards you. Quickly equip your bow and explosive arrows to shoot it down.
- Yuna will be outside and help defeat the Mongols. Once you've cleared the enemies, another cutscene will trigger.
Ignite the Lighthouse.
- After the cutscene, head back inside Fort Ito and gather all the Resources you can find. When you're done, head to the lighthouse to trigger another cutscene.
- Next, climb to the top platform of the lighthouse and ignite the fire.
- Head back down and make your way to the middle section of the fort where you'll find a woman. Speak to her and she'll mention a warrior monk who wishes to speak to Jin.
- Follow the marker towards the location of the monk named Norio. A cutscene will trigger when you speak to him.
- Once that's done, head outside the fort towards the northern gate and continue your conversation with Norio which will end this main quest.
