Journey Into the Past is a Main Quest in Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) and an exclusive quest in the Iki Island Expansion. Main Quests in Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) are categorized as "Jin's Journey", these are highlighted in Gold and focuses on the main campaign of the game. Journey Into the Past Walkthrough

Investigate the Settlement

• Look around the area for clues after finding out about the happenings in southern Toyotama. 
• If you talk to a villager, you will find that they are of no help, so you must investigate the area for clues. 

Investigate the Mongol presence

• Check the Mongol Yurt and the altar nearby towards the right. This will then trigger a cutscene.

Defeat the Mongols

• This will begin a battle sequence against a few Mongols. This might also be your first encounter with a Shaman. A Shaman's songs will make your enemies stronger, so focus on clearing Shamans first. 
• Clear the Mongols in the area to continue

Interrogate the Mongol Shaman

• After clearing them, you'll want to find out who these invaders are. Now, talk to the Shaman. He will mention the Call of the Eagle. This will begin a cutscene introducing The Eagle and their plans. You'll find out that they are currently staying at Iki Island.

Speak with the Boatman to sail for Iki Island

• Head towards the shore and speak to the boatman. They'll warn you that this will begin a long series of tales. 
• Continue the dialogue until a cutscene begins.
• A storm will interupt your journey and you will find yourself ashore separated from your horse. 
• Head through the area with the large bone carcasses and head through them. Climb the rock platform and enter the cave. 
• Head all the way in until you are blocked by some wooden structures. 
• Use your grappling hook to interact with the wooden wall and clear your way. This will trigger the introduction of Iki Island.
