The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai is a Mythic Tale in Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) and an exclusive quest in the Iki Island Expansion. Mythic Tales are optional mini side-quests provided by the locals, these quests are identified with a blue marker where Jin listens to stories and tales about legendary warriors as well as historical information about the island. Completing a Mythic Tale rewards players with unique various rewards.

My father’s long lost horse armor lies somewhere in the wreckage-strewn waters of Zasho Bay. If I recover the armor, I can use it to help rid Iki of the Eagle Tribe.

The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai Walkthrough

Sneak into the camp to hear the rest of the story

• The quest begins as you get kicked out during a tale around a firepit. You still need to find out where your father's horse armor is but they refuse to help a samurai. 
• They will kick you out and this will begin the quest. 
• Your objective is to sneak back in to hear the story without being noticed.
• Head left of the boat entrace and you will eventually find a crawl space on the entrance exterior. 
• Crawl through and follow the location objective. 
• When encountering other people, make sure to stay behind them to remain unnoticed.
• If you are spotted, you will restart outside of the ship. 
• Once you reach the location marker, eavedrop on the conversation.

Find the horse armor of Kazumasa Sakai

• You will now have a new objective search area.
• The Sakai Horse Armor is towards the east located in a shipwreck.
• The location of the Armor is in side the inaccesible ship perched on some rocks. You will need to create and look for a path to lead to it. 
• Head to the center of the indicated circle area to come across a broken wooden platofrm and head up to reach some rocks and continue to climb them.
• Hop onto the next area which will be the big ship and head down into the water.
• If you dive down, you will find a route from the water that will take you under an opening in the rocks. 
• Face the shipwreck and head left. You will encounter a hole opening in the ship. Head through the hole. 
• Use the grappling hook and interact with the mast to pull it down which will create a neccessary path for you to use later on. 
• Head back to where you see the boat supported by a small wooden beam. This can also be interacted with. Use the hook to pull on it. This will cause it to break and cause the boat atop to roll back. 
• Now climb the ship and stand on the fallen beams and masts. Here, you can swing to the next beam and it will take you to another ship.
• There will be another mast available for you to interact with. Use the grappling hook to topple the mast and then use it to cross. Head left and use the ropes a route to progress. 
• Look down and there will be a small set of rocks that you can hop on, but beware of the crashing waves as they will topple you in the water if it hits you and you will have to make your way here again. 
• Time it well and don't linger on the rocks. Hop on the rocks and use them to head to the main ship. Here, there will be a path up on some rocks. Go all the way up and then drio down and jump towards the ship. There will be an area to hang from. Use your grappling hook to hang on. 
• You should find yourself in the once inaccessble ship and you are now free to head in and find the Sakai Horse Armor. Interact with the armor to obtain it and begin a cutscene.

Defeat the Mongols

• Your horse will now have the armor equipped. With horse armor equipped, Horse Charge inflicts more damage, and incoming attacks are less likely to dismount you.
•  Enter to the survivors camp and defeat the enemies in the area. Charge into the Mongols to quickly kill and clear them. This will be a good opportunity to test out your horse battle skills with the new armor equipped. 
• Once the enemies are clear, you can continue.

Speak with the survivors

• You will find the survivors at the front entrance of the ship. Speak to them to complete the quest.
