The Legend of Black Hand Riku is a Mythic Tale in Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) and an exclusive quest in the Iki Island Expansion. Mythic Tales are optional mini side-quests provided by the locals, these quests are identified with a blue marker where Jin listens to stories and tales about legendary warriors as well as historical information about the island. Completing a Mythic Tale rewards players with unique various rewards.
Someone at Fune’s Refuge is telling stories about a cursed set of Sarugami Armor, I should find them and listen.

Leave Fune’s Refuge
- Leave the area and fast travel out.
Search Mount Takenotsuji for Minato
- The search permimeter area will be indicated in yellow on your map.
- Search the area or go directly to the top of the mountain the middle of the area to locate Minato.
Rescue Minato
- Approach Minato
- This will trigger a fight. You will be up against a Shaman, archers and melee enemies.
- Clear the enemies enemies in the area to continue.
- Interact with Minato to rescue her and begin a dialogue.
Rest at Minato’s campfire until nightfall
- Follow Minato to the campfire and take a rest. Upon waking up, it will already be nightfall.
Find the glowing water on the northeastern coast
- Travel to the next search area indicated on the map
- Move forward and dive off the platform.
- You will find yourself in the glowing water.
- Follow the glowing water stream and enter the cave area towards the north.
- Your next location objectives should be indicated on your map.
Follow the glowing water on the northeastern coast
- Continue north trhough the water.
- You will eventually trigger the location title "Mysterious Cave"
- This will begin your next objective.
Search the cave for the Sarugami Armor
- Approach the fire pit on the side and take the flaming arrows. This will be towards the right of the cave opening.
- Use the flaming arrows to light the brazier.
- The area will now be well lit.
- You your grappling hook on the wooden barricade to get through to the next area.
- Head straight. Slip through any gaps and follow the cave to the ladder.
- Light the braziers in each area to have a clear view.
- You will eventually encounter a ladder.
- Head up the ladder and light each area. Continue forward, following the natural path of the cave.
- You will be able to pick up some loot, supplies and scrolls along the way.
- Following the path will eventually lead you to a cutscene with Black Hand Riku.
- This will trigger the Duel in the Pit of Darkness.
- Defeat him to continue.
- Defeat him to gain his armor, Sarugami Armor and a Sarugami Helmet
- Sarugami Armor boosts your Perfect Parry and Perfect Dodge abilities, but disables your regular Parry ability. Stay vigilant!
Escape Riku’s Lair
- Head out straight ahead. Squeeze through the tight gap.
- There will be a barricade ahead to take down.
- Use your grapple hook to destroy it and leave the cave. This will trigger another cutscene.
Defeat Kashira and his men
- Leaving the cave will take you directly into another battle.
- Clear these enemies to complete The Legend of Black Hand Riku.
